Path (2024)
Materials: Land and time
On a hike you turn left down a narrow path, walking along its gentle curve. Eventually you end up back where you took a left, looking around you realize you’ve walked in a large circle. A circular trail walked for two months in the woods, creating a new trail among those planned and maintained by the park. The path creates a sense of wonder as patrons walk in a full circle bringing awareness, causing them to slow down and be mindful of the world around them and their place in it. After its establishment the maintenance is left up to whether or not it gets used by anyone other than deer. Documented for exhibition via a framed photograph of the circular path; accompanied by a simple map drawn from memory of how to get to it.
